We are Wistec

As professional mechanical and electrical engineers we provide feasibility studies, project management, cost estimation, design, contract documentation, authority submissions and construction supervision of M&E systems.

Our strength is a team of engineers experienced across a wide range of building M&E systems, on developments from residential and hotels through commercial and institutional to industrial.

Each project is led by one well-trained engineer. They are trained to understand every discipline of building services together with its statutory requirements, and that integrated approach cuts redundant resources and keeps the work cost-efficient. It also means a client has one person to call.

Wistec was founded in June 2006 by Er Yeo Kwee Ming and is registered with the Public Sector Panel of Consultants (PSPC) for Mechanical and Electrical Consultancy Services (ME03). The practice is licensed under the Professional Engineers Board Singapore.

Wistec is led by three directors with more than thirty years of practice between them, across nearly every kind of building this city puts up — factories and food plants, hotels and restaurants, good class bungalows, monasteries, airport retail, and plant replacement in buildings that never close.

Er. Yeo Kwee Ming

Managing Director

BEng (Electrical), PEng, SPE (Lift & Escalator), Licensed Electrical Engineer, Sr.MIES, GMAP

Kwee Ming leads Wistec, overseeing the firm's mechanical and electrical building services projects and setting the engineering standards the team works to. He has practised mechanical and electrical consultancy since 1991 and has been a registered Professional Engineer in Singapore since 2004.

As an EMA Licensed Electrical Engineer he is authorised to design, install, repair, maintain, operate, inspect, test and take full charge of any electrical installation of 22kV and below. He passed the Specialist registration examination for lift and escalator engineering in 2017, completed the BCA lift and escalator course in 2018, and was registered as a Specialist Professional Engineer in Lift & Escalator Engineering with the Professional Engineers Board Singapore in May 2019.

He is a Certified Green Mark Accredited Professional with projects certified to Green Mark Platinum, Gold Plus and Gold. He is a Senior Member of the Institution of Engineers Singapore, and served on the BCA Board of Examiners for the Electrical Engineering & Information Technology cluster from 2014 to June 2016.

Er. Ng Kian Foo

Director

BEng (Hons) Mechanical, PEng, MIES, GMAP

Kian Foo is a registered Professional Engineer (Mechanical) in Singapore since 2013, with mechanical and electrical consultancy experience since 1997. He spent four years at RSP Architects / Squire Mech as a designer, then eight years at United Project Consultants Pte Ltd from 1997 to 2005, joining Wistec in 2006.

He has extensive design experience across mechanical services including air-conditioning and mechanical ventilation and fire protection systems, and is well versed in the relevant codes of practice and submission procedures. He is keen on new technology and methods that improve the firm's productivity.

Kian Foo has worked on lift modernisation and replacement since 2010. He passed the Specialist registration examination for lift and escalator engineering in 2017 and completed the BCA lift and escalator training course in 2018. He is a Certified Green Mark Accredited Professional with projects certified to Green Mark Platinum, Gold Plus and Gold, and a Member of the Association of Consulting Engineers Singapore.

Mr Daniel Wong Guan Xiang

Director

BEng (Hons) Mechanical, GMAP, MIES, MASHRAE, Registered Lift & Escalator Inspector

Daniel joined Wistec in 2019 and handles a wide range of work, including office fit-out, retail outlets, hotels, restaurants, conservation buildings, private members' clubs, lift modernisation and replacement, and chiller replacements.

He acts as a single point of contact for M&E matters on his projects, which cuts down the time and resources a client spends coordinating between disciplines, and he is used to delivering engineering solutions to standard within tight programmes.

Daniel has completed projects awarded BCA Green Mark Platinum and is well versed in Green Mark requirements. He has completed the BCA Lift & Escalator Inspector course and is working towards his Professional Engineer licensure with the Professional Engineers Board Singapore. He is a Member of the Institution of Engineers Singapore and a Member of ASHRAE.

Behind every project is a team that carries it: designers and draughtspersons who turn an engineering intent into a coordinated, buildable drawing set, engineers who take a job from feasibility through authority submission to handover, and the people who keep coordination and site work moving while they do it.

We are small enough that everyone’s contribution is visible, and we prefer it that way. Engineers here are trusted with whole projects rather than fragments of them, deal directly with clients and architects, and have colleagues around them who have done it before — including two registered Professional Engineers, in both the mechanical and electrical disciplines.

That support is what lets us take on work larger than our size would suggest, and it is why we keep pushing for a better answer rather than a quicker one. Excellence here is not a slogan on a wall; it is the habit of checking the thing twice, because someone downstream is relying on it.

We take the work seriously and ourselves rather less so. Birthdays get a cake, the year ends with a dinner, and the company outing is the one date nobody needs reminding about. People tend to stay — which, in this industry, says more than anything we could write here.
